What Our Staff Say
My time at Discovery Summer provided me with invaluable experience, especially in providing pastoral care for children and communicating with caregivers. This was a unique opportunity which allowed me to learn new skills and develop existing ones such as grading my language appropriately and dealing with welfare concerns. And within all of this I was able to work with amazing people – it was a very fulfilling experience.
Working at Discovery Summer was an amazing experience. It allowed me to improve my teaching skills and I felt incredibly supported by the Director of Study and the other English teachers. I have gained so much confidence in my teaching ability, as Discovery Summer expects a very high standard of teaching. In addition to this, it was extremely rewarding to see the students improve their English skills as well as their confidence.
After completing my 4th summer as part of the Discovery Summer social team, I highly recommend the experience. I’ve learned so many valuable skills over the years while having an enriching and fun summer alongside driven and likeminded team members. I’m now in Vietnam taking my TESOL course and next year, I hope to return as a teacher
As a teacher working at Discovery Summer, you are provided with a lot of support and guidance, while also being given room to develop your own ideas and be creative in the classroom. The number one goal is to create a positive learning environment that students will want to come back to each year, something which is made easier with the Discovery Summer resources that are readily available on the portal. Teachers are not only there to teach, but are also encouraged and expected to get involved with activities, mealtimes and other duties. All of these things help you to get to know the students more and add to your job satisfaction.
