What To Expect?

  • 20 hours' tuition per week

    (including English Skills, English Workshops and end-of-week presentation)

    Cultural study visits with your teacher enrich your experience

    Maximum class size: 12 international students**
    ** In exceptional circumstances, in order to place students at their correct level, maximum class size may be exceeded.

  • English Skills

    On arrival, you'll be given a written and oral test and placed into an English Skills class appropriate for your age and level

    Develop core skills as you communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Classes are lively, interactive and fun e.g. Enter the Shrewsbury 'modern monument' competition - research local sights, collaborate on an idea for a new statue in the town square. Will your idea be selected?

  • English Workshop

    In these fun, task based sessions, you'll explore new topic areas. Learn through researching, discussing, collaborating and creating

    Workshop topics vary week to week e.g. British Quiz, Code Crafters, Nature ID Challenge, TED talks.

    Each week choose a workshop that interests you.

  • Active English

    Visit Shrewsbury town centre with your teacher. Explore British culture as you practise your English with friendly local residents. You'll be amazed at how your confidence grows.

    Projects may include:

    Scavenger Hunt: Visit the castle, drop into the library, explore the winding medieval streets

    Local adventures: Discover Darwin's birthplace and learn about architectural styles from the Norman era to now!

    Art & Culture: Take in an exhibition at the local gallery, compare the works, write your own reviews

    Food lovers: Explore a supermarket and plan a British meal using local ingredients.

  • Trinity Exam

    The Trinity Exam in Spoken English is offered on 15 July and 29 July 2025. It is an optional extra, but recommended, £130

Activity Programme Details
  • Mornings: A choice of sports, team challenges, arts and crafts, dance and drama games on 4 mornings per week
  • Evenings: Exciting range of evening activities e.g. mystery nights, talent shows, British games, discos and relaxed nights in houses
  • Special events: Pool party, Ceilidh (traditional dancing)
  • Excursions: 2 per week e.g. Chester, Warwick Castle, Severn Valley Railway, Blists Hill Victorian Town
  • Free time: Relax and enjoy time with your new friends.
