About English Student Hosts
Up to 10% of students at our residential centres are English children and teenagers - our fabulous English Student Hosts!
Who are they?
They are talented boys and girls (the same age as you) who come from all over the UK.
They live with you on campus, sharing accommodation, and will normally stay for two weeks.
They have been carefully selected for their friendliness, confidence and interest in making new friends from all around the world. They wear blue T-shirts/hoodies to be easily recognisable.
A Day in The Life of a Student Host
They share everything that goes on in busy summer school life. They will be ready to guide you, listen to you and help you practise your English. When you first arrive at the centre, it's likely our English Student Hosts will be there to welcome you and show you around.
If you have any questions, they're there to help you. If you don't understand something, they'll try to explain it to you.
English Student Hosts Will Live Amongst You
Our courses combine learning English with a great "British" experience. You'll be learning new skills, trying new activities and enjoying new experiences - in English. You'll discover talents you never thought you had! We want you to enjoy getting to know our country and to make new friends from Britain and all around the world.
- In the classroom:
They will help you practise your English. In some classes you may be working on a project in small groups, in others you may be working in pairs. If you are taking the Trinity exam, they may help you prepare for it. - At mealtimes:
They will be sitting with you at mealtimes so you'll have lots of opportunities to speak English with native speakers throughout the day, helping you to use colloquial language with confidence. - During social time:
They participate in all the activities with you. They may be in your team to help you win in our exciting team games! - On excursions:
They join you on excursions, helping you understand more about British history and culture, local know how, when you are shopping, where the best places are to buy things. - In houses:
As they sleep in the same accommodation you may be sharing a room with a new English friend. And your only common language will be English. After a busy day there is often free time in houses where you all relax together and chat about your day.
English Friends for Life
Many students stay in contact with our Student Hosts long after they leave the centre through social media. Who knows - one day your new English friends may come to visit you in your own country.
